{"id":1236,"date":"2021-10-15T09:58:13","date_gmt":"2021-10-15T08:58:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stbernadettesparish.org\/?p=1236"},"modified":"2021-10-15T09:58:13","modified_gmt":"2021-10-15T08:58:13","slug":"synod-an-opportunity-to-share-your-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stbernadettesparish.org\/?p=1236","title":{"rendered":"SYNOD: AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stbernadettesparish.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"464\" height=\"310\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stbernadettesparish.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1237\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stbernadettesparish.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/1.jpg 464w, https:\/\/www.stbernadettesparish.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 464px) 100vw, 464px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week Pope Francis opened a new pathway of listening to the People of God that will culminate in a Synod in Rome in 2023.&nbsp;This is an important time as we pray and think together on Communion, Participation and Mission in the Church.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bishop Treanor invites us all to enter into a time of prayer so that we too in our Diocese may be attentive to our experience of Church and how the Holy Spirit is prompting and guiding us as we journey on our pathway into the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We ask you to pray that the Holy Spirit will guide the Church at this time and we look forward to opening a forum of listening in Advent.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>Adsumus Sancte Spiritus<\/em> prayer, attributed to St. Isidore of Seville (560-636), has been traditionally used at Councils and Synods for hundreds of years. The version below was specifically designed for the Church\u2019s Synodal journey from 2021 to 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Adsumus Sancte Spiritus<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.<\/em><\/p><p><em>With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts; Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.<\/em><\/p><p><em>We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.<\/em><\/p><p><em>Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.<\/em><\/p><p><em>Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.<\/em><\/p><p><em>All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.
